Specific strategies of ASEAN and its agencies to further promote andprotect human rights of women have been identified at a recent symposiumcalled “Women for Human Rights” in Indonesia.
Jointly held bythe ASEAN Secretariat and the UN Women’s Agency, the event was funded bythe Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the UN Women Fundand the Indonesian non-governmental organisation of Kalyanamitra.
Participantsdiscussed and got updated with international legal documents on genderequality and women rights to gain full understanding of laws relating towomen.
At the event, regional and world experts exchangedprofessional knowledge and experiences related to human rights,especially women and children rights.-VNA
