HCM City (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has approved the investment policy of the first phase of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project, meaning the city will go ahead with the project in 2025.

The 51-km expressway project will be carried out in the form of build-operate-transfer (BOT) at a total cost of some 19.6 trillion VND (781.6 million USD).

The expressway will start at Ring Road 3 in HCM City’s Cu Chi district and end at National Highway No 22 in Tay Ninh province’s Ben Cau district.

It has a designed speed of 120 km per hour and four lanes and will be built with a smart transport system that includes toll collection and traffic monitoring.

According to Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority of HCM City, construction of the expressway is scheduled to start on April 30 next year and it will be completed by the end of 2027.

Once completed, the HCM City - Moc Bai expressway is expected to help reduce traffic flow and congestion on National Highway 22.

It will ensure high-speed and safe transport along the HCM City - Tay Ninh corridor, pushing the development of Moc Bai - Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port and industrial-urban chains linked to the Trans-Asia Economic Corridor, thereby promoting socio-economic development in the Southeastern region./.
