A ceremony was held on December 24 to kick off construction of a 70MWhydropower plant in Quy Quan commune, Yen Son district, the northernmountainous province of Tuyen Quang .
The YenSon Hydropower Plant has a total investment of 2.6 trillion VND (123.8million USD) and once it becomes operational, the plant will provide296 million kWh to the national grid per year.
Itsfirst turbine is expected to start generation in the first quarter of2016 and the second one, the fourth quarter of that year.
As the last of its kind on the Gam river system, the plant will helpensure water for agricultural production and create landscapes servingtourism, thus boosting the local socio-economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee Tran Ngoc Thuc urged investors and constructors to focus allresources to complete the work on schedule.
Hepledged that the province will create the best conditions for them toimplement the project, especially in site clearance.-VNA
