Workers will enjoy an average Lunar New Year (Tet) festival bonus of 5 million VND (234 USD), an increase of 15 percent from last year, according to a survey by the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
The survey collected statistics from nearly 13,200 enterprises nationwide with over 2.5 million employees in total.
MoLISA Deputy Minister Pham Minh Huan revealed that State-owned enterprises reported an average bonus amount of 7 million VND (328 USD) per person, which is doubled in the State-owned corporations and groups.
Foreign invested businesses’ bonus will stand at 4.8 million VND (225 USD) per person while the sum is expected at 4.3 million VND (201 USD) each for workers at the private sector.
The lowest Tet bonus recorded among surveyed enterprises is at 30,000 VND (1.4 USD) per person and around 20 percent of the businesses haven’t yet decided their bonus rates.
Huan reported that the average salary payment of 2014 increased by 6 percent compared to the previous year.
The Ministry plans to expand the number of beneficiaries of the Law on Social Insurance.-VNA
