Hanoi (VNA) - A workshop to share experience in teaching foreign languages in Vietnam took place in Hanoi from June 18-19.

Jointly organised by the Management Board of National Foreign Language Project and the centre “SEAMEO QITEP in Language” of Indonesia, this is the sixth of this kind in the “SEAQIL Goes to Schools” (SGTS) project which began since 2014 in Asian nations such as Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore.

Participants were managers, lecturers and teachers from universities and high schools in Hanoi, and international language experts.

The event focused on language teaching policies in Vietnam, latest language teaching trends, and sharing experience and skill for teaching foreign languages.

Through the workshop, SEAMEO has collected and assessed teaching methods and skills of lecturers, thus building a document of foreign language teaching techniques.

The centre hopes the publication of the document will be a reference and instruction materials to improve skills and effectiveness of language teachers in the region.

Vice head of the management board of national foreign language project Tran Trong Hung said after the compilation is published, it will be shared to foreign language lecturers and teachers in Vietnam.

SEAQIL Goes to Schools (STGS) is a project consisting of a series of workshops conducted since 2014 to gather language teachers in Southeast Asia to share their good practices and effective techniques applied in their classes. The workshops, then, result in compilations of fun and interesting language teaching methods, strategies as well as techniques. The compilations are to be disseminated to language teachers in the region.-VNA
