Yen Bai boosts cooperation with Lao provinces

Northern Yen Bai province on June 20 passed the 2013 cooperation programme with the two Lao provinces of Vientiane and Sayabuli in which the two sides will continue cooperation in education and training, experience sharing and exchange of delegations and experts.

With the guidance and support of the two governments, cooperation activities between Yen Bai and the two Lao localities recorded good results last year.

Yen Bai received Vientiane and Sayabuli students to train them in Vietnamese language and culture as well as organised delegations to visit and share experience with the two Lao provinces in such areas as education, healthcare, environment and investment.

The Vietnamese province funded 2 billion VND (approximately 100,000 USD) for the construction of houses for teachers of Vientiane ’s Ethnic Boarding School and a clinic for Sayabuli officials.

The two sides well coordinated in hosting activities in celebration of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012, the 50 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and 35 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

With its contributions to the development of Vietnam-Laos friendship and comprehensive cooperation, Yen Bai province was awarded the Lao Government’s first-class Labour Order in 2012.-VNA
