Youth ship drops anchor in Vietnam

The Japanese ship Fuji Maru docked at Ho Chi Minh City's Sai Gon Port on November 9 in a trip aimed to strengthen the friendly relations between the young people of ASEAN countries and Japan.

This is the ship’s 12th passage to Vietnam - anchoring 11 times at Sai Gon Port and once at Da Nang Port.

Under the South East Asian Youth Ship Programme - a joint venturebetween the Japanese government and ASEAN governments and initiated byJapan in 1974 - the voyage is an annual event to cultivate solidarityand friendship between youngsters in the ASEAN and Japan .

Berthed off the city for four days, 310 youth delegates from Japan and10 ASEAN member countries are scheduled to visit the city’s leaders andhistorical sites, participate in cultural exchange activities withlocal youth, and partake in a home-stay programme to learn about locallife and culture.-VNA
