Bodies of 14 Quang Tri landslide victims found

As of 4:45 pm of October 18, 14 bodies had been found in a landslide that left 22 officers and soldiers of the Defence - Economic Division 337 under Military Zone 4 missing in Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district, the central province of Quang Tri.

– As of 4:45 pm of October 18, 14 bodies had been found in a landslide that left 22 officers and soldiers of the Defence - Economic Division 337 under Military Zone 4 missing in Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district, the central province of Quang Tri.

Search and rescue forces are working to fix landslide-hit areas along the road lead to the landslide site in Huong Phung. The road is expected to be cleared on October 19 morning and competent agencies will bring the bodies to a hospital in Dong Ha city.

A group of sappers, travelling about 2km on foot, reached the scene to search for the victims.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ha Sy Dong said on October 18 that the incident occurred at 1:25am the same day in Cop hamlet where 27 officers and soldiers of the division stayed to help local residents overcome disaster consequences. Five of them have been saved.

Later on 6:30am, a local search and rescue team including police, militia and residents arrived at the scene./.
