Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhun has called on the EU to continue supporting his country’s agriculture while expanding market for more Cambodian exports.

The minister made the suggestions during his talks with EU Ambassador to Cambodia George Edgar in Phnom Penh on August 8, where Cambodia sought the EU’s assistance in resources and technologies.

The two sides focused their discussions on such issues as animal husbandry, fish farming, education for farmers, and forest protection.

Veng Sakhun proposed the EU sponsor and coordinate with the Cambodian Government to handle a number of land disputes and provide high-quality varieties of rice for local farmers.

In June, the EU issued a resolution stressing the need to reconsider its aid package worth 461 million USD for Cambodia.-VNA
