Phnom Penh (VNA) – Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang showed his hope that Cambodia will facilitate the city’s trade and investment promotion activities in the country, at his meetings with Cambodian National Assembly and Government leaders in Phnom Penh on June 2.
At his meeting with Heng Samrin, Honorary President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), President of the National Assembly and President of the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland, he affirmed that Vietnam always treasures and gives priority to its relations with Cambodia.
The country wants to work with Cambodia to further develop the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation in order to bring about practical benefits for their peoples and to contribute to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world, he added.
Heng Samrin said he supports cooperation agreements, programmes and commitments between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh, while hoping that the collaboration will be expanded further.
While meeting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection Men Sam An, Thang stated that Ho Chi Minh City continually does its utmost to intensify cooperation with Cambodia, including Phnom Penh.
He said he hopes that the Cambodian Government and localities will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese investors in the country to help them gain effective operations so as to bring about benefits for both sides.
Men Sam An, in turn, confirmed that the Cambodian Government will try its best to address difficulties for Vietnamese businesses operating in the country.
During its stay in Cambodia, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation also laid a wreath at a monument to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Phnom Penh and visited the Vietnamese Embassy and the Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia.
On this occasion, the city granted 36,000 USD to build a floating primary school in Boribo district of Kompong Chhnang province, and 30,000 USD to build classrooms in Kbang Taol fishing village in Battambang province.-VNA
