Hanoi (VNA) - Most of homestays in Hanoi’s outlying districts are fully booked at weekends right after the city allowed to resumed a number of activities and services, including tourism.
However, travel agencies are facing difficulties when organising tours from Hanoi to other localities due to inconsistent regulations between localities in travel and health control. These are the obstacles for them in recovering the “green economy.”
Due to prolonged pandemic over the past two years, Tran Ngoc (Linh Dam, Hanoi) said she and her friends have had to cancelled tours for many times.
As the result, right after Hanoi eased social distancing measures, despite cold weather and rain, Ngoc and her friends decided to book rooms at a resort in Ba Vi district for relaxation.
“I called different places but the staff said the rooms are fully booked for the next two weeks. I am quite surprised to see the high travelling demand of Hanoians at weekends. Finally, I have to wait for two more weeks but still worry about the situation at that time,” Ngoc said.
Wishing to travel after a long social distancing period is the common mood of many people. Learning that, as soon as the city eased the social distancing measures, although many hotels and resorts have not officially reopened, private homestay establishments with the advantage of an open space and reasonable price have quickly operated and attracted a large number of tourists.
On homestay rental groups in Ba Vi, Soc Son, Son Tay..., many business units introduce family vacations with very diverse prices, ranging from 600,000 VND to several million VND/night depending on the attraction of the resort, the area and the day of the week.
Hoang Hai, a resident in Ha Dong district, said he had contacted homestays recommended by his friends on social network groups, however, many informed they were fully-booked, even for the end of October.
Vice President of Capital Tourism Club, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat and owner of a homestay in Duong Lam, said that due to the high demand for suburban resorts, some private homestays opened from the beginning of October but did not rent out widely, mainly for groups of close friends and families of not more than 10 people.
At present, many homestays resumed operations with activities focusing mainly at weekends. As a result, they often fully booked at weekends, in contrasts, almost empty during week days.
Tourism activities are promising, but the classification of risk levels in somewhat causing difficulties for tourists. That's not to mention the different regulations on travel and health control in localities, making it difficult for tourism businesses to develop tour programs.
Nguyen Le Huong, Deputy Director of Vietravel said, synchronous macro policies in the whole country is a prerequisite for tourism sector to recover.
According to Huong, safety is the top priority. However, fact has shown that testing and quarantine are required in many localities, hindering tourism sector from development.
“Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated October 11, 2021 issued by the Government on provisional regulations on safe adaptation to and flexible and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic affirmed that vaccine is a prerequisite. We understand that once being vaccinated together with safe departures and destinations, people feel secured to travel,” Huong stressed.
On that basis, Nguyen Le Huong suggested the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism send documents to localities for mutual agreements on policy to welcome guests, especially quarantine requirements./.
