Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar’s police said on June 28 that they have captured a total of 206 drug smugglers, including 36 females, on the Myanmar-Thailand border in the first half of 2017.

Approximately 278,000 methamphetamine pills, 3.08 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 66.39 grams of marijuana, 80 grams of opium leaves, 20 grams opium power and other illicit drugs were seized during the arrests.

The suspects have been handled in line with Myanmar’s law.

On June 26, respective local authorities in Yangon, Mandalay and Taunggyi burned 385 million USD worth of unlawful narcotic drugs to mark the 30th International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Altogether 1,323 kg of opium, 735 kg of heroin and 131.28 million tablets of stimulants were put on fire.-VNA
