New passenger port on Con Dao Island opens to tourists

A new passenger port on Con Dao Island, off the coast of Ba Ria-Rung Tau province, has welcomed the first high-speed boat bringing more than 200 passengers to the popular tourist destination.

Construction of the passenger port began in 2011, with total investment of 6.7 million USD.

Located in the centre of Con Dao, the port is expected to make visiting the island much easier while reducing overloads at Ben Dam Port.

Trial operations were conducted on April 6, carrying nearly 200 passengers.

The port is expected to facilitate passenger travel when it is officially opened shortly.

Con Dao Island is set to become a world-class site for marine, cultural, historical, and spiritual tourism under a revised plan for its development to 2045./.
