Australia won the mixed doubles event with Leanne Choo and Robin Middleton beating Duong Bao Duc and Thai Thi Hong Gam 21-14, 21-16.

Vietnam fought back winning both men's and women's singles matches thanks to Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang, leading national athletes. Minh won 21-9, 21-10 over Daniel Guda and Trang defeated Joy Lai 21-12, 21-7.

The Aussies then levelled the result when Choo and Gronya Somerville beat Trang and Nguyen Thi Sen 21-18, 21-18 in the women's doubles event.

In the decisive men's doubles match, the Vietnamese successfully took the day. Dao Manh Thang and Le Ha Anh won 21-16, 17-21, 21-12 in a 43-minute match.

Vietnam in Group 3B and the Czech team, who topped Group 3A, will have playoffs on late May 15 for a place in Group 2.

The Sudirman Cup 2015 includes 35 teams, of which the top 12 compete for the championship title and 23 remaining are divided into groups 2, 3 or 4 based on their history.

Vietnam are in Group 3B alongside Australia, Italy and Switzerland.-VNA
