100th Great Union Day of Romania marked in HCM City

Ho Chi Minh City(VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations held a ceremonyin the city on December 1 to mark the 100th Great Union Day ofRomania, manifesting the solidarity and friendship between the peoples of thecity and Romania.

Speaking at the event,Chairman of the Vietnam – Romania Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh CityNguyen Sy Thang stressed that Romania’s chairmanship of the European Union (EU)next year will be a good chance for the country to raise its position ininternational arena as well as for the signing of the EU – Vietnam Free TradeAgreement (EVFTA). This is not only an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises toenter the market in Europe, but also for Romanian ones to enter that in ASEANthrough Vietnam, the official highlighted.

Over the past years, theassociation has taken an active part in implementing various activities,serving as a friendship bridge between the two peoples, Thang affimed, pledgingthat his organization will do its utmost to help push up the fine and traditionalrelations between the two countries, especially in the fields of trade, investment,cultural and education cooperation, and people-to-people exchange.

For his part, RomanianAmbassador Valeriu Arteni affirmed that the peoples of Romania and Vietnam aregetting closer to each other, while the fine and traditional relations andcooperation between the two countries are developing unceasingly. During itsterm as the EU Chairman in the first six months of next year, Romania is readyto further intensify the cooperation with Vietnam and to strongly support thesigning and ratification of the EVFTA at an early date.

The Romanian diplomat also highlightedthe similarities in the histories of the two countries as a factor thatcontributes to the development of the bilateral bonds, and highly valued therole of the association, noting that it has conducted many effective activitiesin the people diplomacy that helps deepen the relations between the twocountries.-VNA
