11 provinces join WB-funded water project

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a list of 11 provinces which will take part in the first phase of an urban water supply and drainage project funded by the World Bank.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a list of 11 provinces whichwill take part in the first phase of an urban water supply and drainageproject funded by the World Bank.

The provincesinclude Quang Ninh and Ninh Binh in the north, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, QuangNam, Quang Tri, Lam Dong and Dak Lak in the central and CentralHighlands regions, and Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc and Kien Giang in thesouth.

The first phase has a total investment of200 million USD, of which 150 million USD will be sourced from the WB’sInternational Development Association (IDA) and the remaining will comefrom the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

The PM also asked the Ministry of Planning andInvestment to work with the WB on the second phase of the project,expected to be implemented in the fiscal year of 2013./.
