Hanoi (VNA) - The 12th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) for the 2022-2027 tenure opened in Hanoi on December 14. In his opening remarks, First Secretary of the 11th HCYU Central Committee Bui Quang Huy said the congress, to last to December 16, will review the youth union work and youth movements in 2017-2022, and set out targets, tasks and solutions for the new term.
A plenary session will be held on December 15, and broadcast live on national television and radio channels, and is expected to see the participation of 200 delegates.
Secretary of the 11th HCYU Central Committee Nguyen Minh Triet presented a proposal on building the committee’s political report to be delivered at the congress.
In the afternoon, the delegates looked into different topics, covering youngsters’ role in national construction, youth union affairs, and international integration of Vietnamese youths.
Earlier the same day, the 980 delegates to the congress paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi.

Within the framework of the congress, the 11th HCYU Central Committee has organised an exhibition displaying nearly 1,000 photos and objects on the 90-year development of the HCYU, and remarkable achievements recorded in the 2017-2022 tenure.
The exhibition will run through December 16.
