HCYU’s 12th National Congress to be held next week

The 12th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) will take place in Hanoi from December 14-16, the HCYU Central Committee announced at a press briefing on December 5.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 12th National Congress ofthe Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) will take place in Hanoi fromDecember 14-16, the HCYU Central Committee announced at a press briefing onDecember 5.

Themed "Aspirations - Solidarity - Mettle - Pioneering - Creativity", the congress is expected to saw theparticipation of 980 delegates representing 22 million HCYU members inside andoutside the country, along with about 200 guests.

The two day-and-a-half congress will have five major sessions,focusing on youngsters’ desire to devote to the country, measures tostrengthen the organisation of the Youth Union and Children’s Union and promoteVietnamese youth’s international integration.

Participants will also discuss a political report by theHCYU Central Committee in the 2017-2022, and elect members of the new HCYU Central Committee for the 2022-2027 tenure.

Prior to the opening of the congress, the delegates will paytribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and offer incense to martyrsat the Monument for Heroic Martyrs in Hanoi.

They will also visit a photo exhibition and a number ofhistorical relic sites in the capital city.

Right after the congress, a Youth Day will be launched inthe HCYU in all 63 provinces and cities across the country, and Laos, withvarious activities including a fund-raising race, activities to assist people in registering for ID codes, ID cards and passports, tree planting,and other voluntary activities./.

State President appoints new ambassadors abroad

The draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress identify foreign affairs as a key and regular task, with diplomacy in agriculture and the environment recognised as a core component of economic, environmental and development diplomacy directly linked to national strategic priorities.
