The 15th National Assembly's first extraordinary session opened in Hanoi on January 4 and was connected via videoconference to 62 delegations of NA deputies in centrally-run provinces and cities, excluding the capital city's delegation who attended the sitting in-person.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th National Assembly's firstextraordinary session opened in Hanoi on January 4 and was connected viavideoconference to 62 delegations of NA deputies in centrally-run provinces andcities, excluding the capital city's delegation who attended the sittingin-person.

Before the opening ceremony, which was live televised, leaders of the Party,State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and NA deputies paid floral tribute toPresident Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.

In the preparatory meeting, lawmakers discussed and approved the session’sagenda after hearing a report on collecting feedback on the session’s scheduledagenda by NA Secretary General and Chairman of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong.

After NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue delivered his opening speech, Minister ofPlanning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung is to present a proposal and Chairmanof the NA Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh will present a verification reporton the draft Resolution on fiscal and monetary policies in support of thesocio-economic recovery and development programme.

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The will present a proposal and Chairman ofthe NA Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh will present another report examiningthe draft investment policy on a project to build the eastern section of theNorth-South expressway in the 2021-2025 period.

Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long will deliver a proposal and Chairman ofthe NA Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh will present a examination report on onthe draft Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law onPublic Investment, the Law on Public-Private Partnership, the Investment Law,the Bidding Law, the Electricity Law, the Enterprise Law, the Law on SpecialConsumption Tax and the Law on Enforcement of Civil Judgments.

Chairman of the NA Finance - Budget Committee Nguyen Phu Cuong will presenta report examining the draft Resolution on piloting several special policiesand mechanisms for the development of Can Tho city after Minister of Planningand Investment Nguyen Chi Dung presents a proposal.

In the afternoon, the legislators will discuss in groups the draftResolution on fiscal and monetary policies in support of the socio-economicrecovery and development programme./.

Tenth Vietnam–China border defence friendship exchange to feature innovations

Australian expert hails performance of 15th NA, People’s Councils at all levels

During the 15th term, NA deputies raised a number of critical issues with government ministers during question time regarding environmental protection, land administration, and food safety. Deputies were particularly engaged during discussions on amendments to the 2013 Constitution and the Law on the Organisation of Local Administration.

Vietnam, Laos strengthen defence cooperation

General Nguyen Tan Cuong proposed both sides continue effectively implementing the agreed cooperation areas, including holding high-level delegation exchanges, maintaining consultation and dialogue mechanisms, and coordinating to successfully organise the annual meeting of the defence ministers of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
