The information was released at a meeting of the symposium’sOrganising Board in Hanoi on May 4.
National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong saidthat the symposium, which is co-organised by the IPU and the Vietnameselegislature, will deliberate legislators’ actions to realise the sustainabledevelopment goals (SDGs) amid climate change.
According to Phong, the theme for the event had been discussedcarefully and selected by the United Nations and the IPU.
Head of the NA Committee for External Relations and deputyhead of the organising board Nguyen Van Giau, said the symposium will compriseof three main sessions, focusing on the SDGs and the role of parliaments;promotion of gender equality and public health when adapting to climate change;challenges and opportunities facing countries in the region; internationalcommitments and requirements for legislators; and mobilization of resources forrealising the SDGs.-VNA
