Preparations for the 2014 Ha Long Carnival, slated to take place on April 30 in the northern province of Quang Ninh, have been quickened up to ensure things go smoothly.
At a press briefing on April 16, Chairman of the Ha Long People’s Committee Doan Xuan Dan further said the event, themed “Quang Ninh – Convergence and Pervasion”, will be broadcast live on VTV1, VTV4, and the locality’s TV channels.
The event will highlight a special 45-minute performance by local artists and 300 from China, Laos and Thailand, along with a carnival parade expected to draw the participation of more than 3,800 local professional and amateur artists.
The event aims to spotlight the province’s culture, tourism and cuisine, particularly celebrating Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO-recognised World Natural Heritage site.
Last year’s annual event witnessed the participation of more than 5,000 actors and actresses, and welcomed 25,000 visitors.-VNA
