25th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Hanoi

The 25th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting (ATM 25) and the ATM with dialogue partners will take place in Hanoi from November 14-15, according the Transport Ministry.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 25th ASEANTransport Ministers’ Meeting (ATM 25) and the ATM with dialogue partners willtake place in Hanoi from November 14-15, according the Transport Ministry.

Before that, the 48th ASEAN Senior TransportOfficials’ Meeting (STOM 48) and the STOM with dialogue partners will beorganised from November 11 – 13

About 200 domestic and foreign delegates will attend STOM 48and 250 others, the ATM 25.

Within the framework of ASEAN cooperation, the meetings areheld on a rotational basis in regional member states.

The ATM 25 and ATM with dialogue partners aim to build aninter-connected, effective, safe and sustainable transportation system in thebloc, thus forming an ASEAN economic area of stability, prosperity and highcompetitiveness next year.

Their major agenda include the signing of thegovernment-level multilateral agreements, adoption of action plans for comingyears, discussions on measures to deal with difficulties and boost transportcollaboration with dialogue partners, including China, Japan and the Republicof Korea.

The outcomes of the meetings will be collected by the ASEANSecretariat and reported to government officials at ASEAN summits.

Meanwhile, the STOM 48 and STOM with dialogue partners willlook to coordinate activities of working groups, address technicaldifficulties, ensure the progress and quality of carrying out directions at transportministers’ meetings.

During the STOMs, working groups in air, maritime, landtransport and transport facilitation will report on the implementation of projectsand plans, and negotiate the building of cooperation agreements between ASEAN andpartners to submit to ministers.

The ATM 25 will listen to reports on the implementation ofprojects within the framework of the Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan for2016 – 2025 in the areas of air, maritime, land transport, and transportfacilitation.

The meeting will also debate ways to bolster transportcoordination with partners such as the European Union and the US – ASEANBusiness Council, especially in aviation./.

Road accident fund to provide support from September

Under Decree No. 279/2025/ND-CP and Circular No. 126/2026/TT-BCA, injured victims with bodily injury rates of over 31% to below 81% may receive up to 10 million VND (381 USD) per case, while families of deceased victims may receive up to 20 million VND.

New resolution seeks to unlock OV resources for national development

Ha Thanh, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations and head of the advisory council for international integration, people-to-people diplomacy and overseas Vietnamese affairs under the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, said Resolution No. 23 builds on the fundamental viewpoints of the Politburo's Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW issued in 2004, reaffirming that overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part of the nation and a bridge connecting Vietnam with the world.

Vietnam-UK education cooperation: From market to partnership

In the 2024/25 academic year, about 3,725 Vietnamese students studied in the UK, while 13,285 enrolled in UK programmes delivered in Vietnam. Both flows are growing, but the balance is increasingly shifting towards UK education being delivered to learners in Vietnam. If managed strategically, this could enable Vietnam to expand access to international education at home while improving the quality of its workforce.

Free bus fares drive sharp rise in ridership in Ho Chi Minh City
