Hosted by the Government Inspectorate, the conference aims to review five years of the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Law.

Presenting a report at the event, Government Deputy Chief Inspector Le Tien Dat emphasised that after five years of implementing the law and its guiding documents, anti-corruption efforts have produced many positive results.

Ministries, sectors, and localities have paid attention to inspecting and monitoring the implementation of the code of conduct for civil servants in performing their duties and in social relationships, regulations on asset and income control.

A total of 235,271 civil servants and public employees have undergone position rotations to prevent corruption, the report noted.

Authorities have proactively focused on verifying, tracing, and effectively implementing measures to recover embezzled or lost assets. The cases brought to trial have ensured the right individuals are held accountable for their crimes.

Ministries, sectors, localities, and relevant agencies, organisations, and units have continued to strictly implement the Party's regulations and the State’s laws regarding the responsibility of those holding the top positions in efforts to prevent corruption and negative behaviours.

Additionally, the effectiveness of anti-corruption specialised units has been increasingly improved. Efforts to prevent and combat corruption in businesses and organisations in the private sector, as well as the role and responsibility of society in the work have been strengthened, the report said.

Addressing the event, Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong stated that anti-corruption efforts have been carried out vigorously, resolutely, persistently, continuously, without exceptions and forbidden areas, achieving comprehensive results with corruption showing signs of decreasing.

He highlighted several high-profile cases that have garnered public attention, especially cases related to Van Thinh Phat, AIC, Phuc Son, Thuan An companies, saying that these cases clearly demonstrate the high political determination, strong actions, breakthrough measures with no forbidden areas and no exceptions.

To further uphold achieved results and address existing shortcomings and limitations, Phong underlined the need to perfect mechanisms, policies and laws on corruption prevention and control, and socio-economic management.

The inspection, examination, auditing, investigation, prosecution, trial and execution agencies need to pay attention to strengthening their organisation and apparatus, he said./.
