More North-South trains to carry passengers back home for Lunar New Year

More trains will run during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays to cope with an increase in demand.

Hanoi (VNA) - More trains will run during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays to cope with an increase in demand.

The Railway Transport Joint Stock Company will operate more North-South trains from mid-January, 2025.

From Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi and vice versa, there will be an additional SE12 train departing from Saigon Station on January 14, 2025, and an additional TN5 train departing from Saigon Station on January 16, 2025.

From HCM City to Nghe An (Vinh Station), there will be additional SE14 and SE16 trains departing from Saigon Station on January 18-19, 2025.

From HCM City to Quang Ngai, there will be an additional SE26 train departing from Saigon Station on January 18, 2025.

Passengers can purchase tickets through the railway's ticket sales website at www.dsvn.vn; www.vetau.com.vn; www.vetauonline.vn; or via e-wallet applications, train ticket sales apps on mobile devices or contact stations and ticket agents.

Promotional discounts are being provided to social policy beneficiaries.

Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and revolutionary activists born before August 19, 1945, will receive a 90% discount on ticket prices.

War invalids, people enjoying policies like war invalids, resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, people with especially severe disabilities and people with severe disabilities will enjoy a 30% discount.

Elderly people who are Vietnamese citizens aged 60 and over will receive a 15% discount on ticket prices. Trade union members who buy individual tickets receive a 5% discount.

Discounts of 20% will be available to students of universities, academies, colleges, vocational and technical high schools who buy train tickets running from January 15-21, 2025 (for even-numbered trains running from the South to the North) and from February 10-16, 2025 (for odd-numbered trains running from the North to the South).

Children aged six to 10 will receive a 25% discount on ticket prices. Children under six traveling with an adult are exempt from tickets.

Children exempt from tickets must share seats with an accompanying adult. Each adult is allowed to bring no more than two children with free tickets./.

Construction of new Phong Chau bridge kicks off
