34th Day of German Unity celebrated in HCM City

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) held a gathering on October 1 to commemorate the 34th Day of German Unity (October 3, 1990 - 2024).

HCM City (VNA) - The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) held a gathering on October 1 to commemorate the 34th Day of German Unity (October 3, 1990 - 2024).

In his congratulatory speech at the event, Nguyen Anh Tuan, President of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, extended his congratulations on the socio-economic achievements that Germany has attained over the past three decades, and commended Germany for maintaining its leading role in the European Union.

He affirmed his commitment to closely collaborating with the German Consul General in the city and actively participating in joint events to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany in 2025.

Tuan expressed his belief that the two sides will strive to remain reliable partners, enthusiastic advisors, and dedicated members in all activities aimed at strengthening and consolidating the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.

German Consul General Josefine Wallat appreciated the effectiveness of cooperation among German businesses in the city, especially in the fields of medical services and equipment, and the positive role and contributions of Vietnamese students and interns living and working in Germany to the overall development of the relationship between Germany and Vietnam.

She said she hopes that the Consulate General will continue receiving cooperation from the HUFO and the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association in the city in organising activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, especially cultural and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to strengthening and developing the bilateral friendship and cooperation./.
