72nd War Invalids and Martyrs Day marked in Laos
An incense offering ceremony was held in commemoration of heroes and martyrs at the Laos-Vietnam Combative Alliance monument in Keun village of Thoulakhom district of Vientiane, on the occasion of 72nd War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy, the coordinating board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and the Vietnamese community in Laos, as well as the Laos War Veterans' Association.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung said this was to commemorate and pay tribute to both Vietnamese and Lao heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence and freedom of the two countries.
It also provides a chance to look back on the tradition of fighting shoulder-to-shoulder against the common enemy in the past, and working together to build and safeguard the two nations at present, Hung added.
He stressed that the two countries' young generations will continue to uphold the tradition and make all-out efforts to nurture and promote the time-honoured friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
Located about 70km to the north of Vientiane capital city, the monument in Keun village was built by the Laos War Veterans’ Association and the Vietnamese community in the country. It is meant to commemorate 28 soldiers who died while protecting Vientiane capital in early 1946.-VNA
