75th traditional day of Vietnam's volunteer soldiers, experts marked in Laos

A meeting took place in the northern Lao province of Xiengkhouang on October 24 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam’s volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos (October 30, 1949 – 2024).

Xiengkhouang (VNA) – A meeting took place in the northern Lao province of Xiengkhouang on October 24 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam’s volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos (October 30, 1949 – 2024).

The event was co-organised by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Luang Prabang and the Xiengkhouang Military Command.

In her speech, Vietnamese Consul General Kieu Thi Hang Phuc highlighted the ceremony as an opportunity for both nations to remember and honour the significant contributions of Vietnam’s volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos and to educate their people, especially the younger generations, about the invaluable bilateral tradition of great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

She held that creatively applying historical lessons, particularly those learned from the experience of the volunteer soldiers and experts, plays a crucial role in strengthening the bond between the two parties, governments, and peoples.

Bounhom Thedthany, Deputy Secretary of the Xiengkhouang Party Committee, expressed deep gratitude to the Party, Government, and people of Vietnam for their substantial support during Laos’ revolutionary struggle for independence as well as ongoing national defence and development causes.

He pledged to uphold the legacy of Vietnam’s volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos as an inspiration in life and continue promoting political and ideological education among officials, Party members, students, intellectuals, and citizens, toward strengthening the ever-growing Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

At the end of the ceremony, the Vietnamese Consul General presented various educational supplies to local students, encouraging them to continue their studies and strive to contribute to the development of their homeland, while also fostering the special bond between the two countries.

Earlier, Vietnamese and Lao delegations offered incense and flowers at the Laos-Vietnam combat alliance monument and memorial shrine for Vietnamese and Lao heroes in Xiengkhouang./.
