90 billion VND raised to help disadvantaged children

The National Fund for Vietnamese children mobilised almost 90 billion VND in cash and in kind to help specially disadvantaged children in 2009.

From this donation, the Fund has supported 16 functional rehabilitation centres in 15 provinces and cities, free of charge surgery operations for 3,200 children with harelip, impaired vision and heart disease.

In addition, the Fund granted scholarships to over 3,000 children of war invalids and matyrs, poor children achieving high records in study, financed the construction of four nursery classes and nine outdoor recreational places in a number of poor areas.

For 18 years in operation, the National Fund so far has mobilised over 2.5 trillion VND, helping more than 26 million disadvantaged children nationwide./.
