Hanoi (VNA) – There are only a few seatsleft on flights from Ho Chi Minh City to destinations in the north like Hanoi,Hai Phong, Vinh and Thanh Hoa from February 12 to 15, or the 27th to30th day of the last lunar month to meet high travel demand beforeTet, Vietnam’s traditional New Year.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam,national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines added flights between HCM City and Hanoiduring these four days while low-cost Vietjet Air will deploy an extra leasedaircraft to increase flights during the biggest holiday of the year.
On February 12, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacificannounced they had scheduled seven extra flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi MinhCity. The flights, with about 1,300 seats, are operated from February 12-14 asflights between the two metropolises were always 90-99 percent full over thelast few days.
According to the plan, Vietnam Airlines runs two more flights a day, onedeparting from Hanoi at 14:50 and another taking off from HCM City at 18:00.
To implement the plan, the airlines had to carry out aircraft maintenance atnight so planes can be ready for use in the days.
The Airports Corporation of Vietnam estimated that there will be more than 4million passengers going through Tan Son Nhat International Airport during thisTet, up 25 percent from the same period last year.-VNA
