About 782,000 new jobs generated in first half of year

Hanoi (VNA) – A total of 782,000 people have been offered with jobssince the beginning of this year, according to Deputy Minister of Labour,Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep.

Of the total, nearly 57,000 labourers havebeen helped to go work abroad, Diep said at the ministry’s recent pressconference on the implementation of social and labour policies.

In the period, the ministry carried out aprogramme on providing and ensuring stable employment for female workers,especially those aged above 35 in industrial zones.

In the first five months, the number of newly-established enterprises inVietnam rose by 3.5 percent year-on-year to 52,322, with total registeredcapital of 516.9 trillion VND (22.77 billion USD).

Large numbers of new enterprises were seenin wholesale and retail, repair of cars and motorcycles, processing andmanufacturing and construction.

Twelve sectors saw an increase in newenterprises in the period, with the real estate trading sector seeing thehighest growth at 41.1 percent.-VNA
