Overseas Vietnamese people organised many activities on May 19 to mark the 132nd birth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh.

Hanoi (VNA) – Overseas Vietnamesepeople organised many activities on May 19 to mark the 132nd birthanniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh.

In Argentina, the Vietnamese Embassyand the Argentina - Vietnam Culture Institute (ICAV) held a celebration at theHo Chi Minh Monument in a park named the “Socialist Republic of Vietnam”in Buenos Aires.

Highlighting milestones in Ho ChiMinh’s revolutionary career, Ambassador Duong Quoc Thanh said Ho Chi Minh was apreeminent leader of the national liberation movement, an exemplary communist,and a close friend of the peoples fighting for peace, independence, democracy,and social progress around the world. He was a great source of support for thestruggle for national liberation in colonies in the 20th century.

ICAV President Poldi Sosa praised the late leader’s enormous contributions toVietnam, describing Ho Chi Minh as a brilliant example of patriotism and a hugedriver for the fights by the oppressed in the world.

She also expressed her hope that hislife and career, as well as the history of Vietnam will be further introducedto Argentinian people, especially the young, so as to help enhance the twocountries’ friendship.

At the event, participants laid wreaths in commemoration of Ho Chi Minh. A documentaryon his life and career and some video clips about Vietnam were also screened.

In SaintPetersburg city of Russia, representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy and peoplepaid tribute to Ho Chi Minh at the site where a statue of the late President will be installed in asquare in Vyborgsky district. The Ho Chi Minh Institute under the Faculty of OrientalStudies at the Saint Petersburg State University also laid flowers incommemoration of the late Vietnamese leader at his monument in the school campus.

The same day, the city’sCommittee for External Relations held a seminar on Ho Chi Minh with theparticipation of local officials, representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy andthe Vietnamese People’s Association in Russia, experts in Oriental studies,former Soviet Union who used to work in Vietnam, along with Vietnamese andRussian students.

Thecommittee and the management board of the Pavlovsk fortress relic site also organised ceremonialcannon firing to celebrate Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, which was also part of theVietnam Days in Saint Petersburg from May 13 to 20. From May 17 to 20, the localadministration decorated the Palace Bridge on the Neva River with red andyellow lighting representing the colours of Vietnam’s national flag.

Also on May 19, the Vietnamese Embassy inAlgeria laid flowers to pay tribute to the President on Ho Chi Minh Avenue inAlgiers, and the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore paid floral tribute at the Ho Chi Minh monument in the Asian Civilisations Museum.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese People’s Association in Udon Thaniprovince of Thailand held an incense offering ceremony in commemoration of HoChi Minh at a relic site named after him in Noong On village of Muong town./.

Education-training sector preparing for strategic turning point: Minister

Reviewing the sector’s performance in the past five years, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said the scale of the national education system continued to expand across all levels, with more than 24.5 million learners nationwide. Major goals on universal education and literacy were basically achieved, while the proportion of trained workers holding diplomas or certificates reached nearly 30%.

Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%. Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, authorities found 1,729 cases of vessels losing VMS connection for six hours or more, issuing fines in 196 cases totalling nearly 6.6 billion VND (about 252,000 USD)
