More than 100 photos and documents are being showcased to mark the 40th anniversary of the liberation of central Thua Thien-Hue province (March 26, 1975).
The event, organised by the Hue Relics Preservation Centre, aims to provide insight for the youth into the revival and the value of Hue relics, thus nurturing their love and pride of their homeland.
The Hue ancient citadel is home to a number of valuable cultural relics, including the ancient citadel complex with palaces, strongholds and temples from the Nguyen dynasty in the early 19 th century, according to Director of the Hue Relics Preservation Centre Phan Thanh Hai.
Outstanding features of the Hue Relic Complex have been widely recognised, he said, adding that time, natural conditions and years of fighting have taken a toll on the structures.
Hai also highlighted the efforts of the international community, Government and people of Vietnam, and local authorities and residents have made to preserve the relics, contributing to upholding Vietnamese cultural values.
On the exhibition opening day on March 26, a ceremony was held to inaugurate upgrades to the Thai Binh Lau (Royal Library) and Thieu Phuong Imperial Garden in the Hue Citadel (Dai Noi), at total cost of nearly 17.5 billion VND (813,000 USD).
The two facilities, completed in March this year, have been subtly decorated with pottery mosaics to preserve their original value.-VNA
