Vientiane (VNA) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Lao government on November 8 signed a number of agreements on loans and grants worth a total of 64.9 million USD to help Laos enhance education quality.
The bank said in a press release that the agreements were signed by Lao Deputy Minister of Finance Thipphakone Chanthavongsa and ADB’s Lao Country Director Steven Schipani.
The projects will focus on improving the tertiary education system of Laos and technical and vocational education and training to train undergraduates with professional skills.
Besides that, the projects will boost the linkage between higher education services and social-economic demand via increasing access to tertiary education and strengthening management of tertiary education establishments, while encouraging the participation of private enterprises in vocational training.-VNA
