Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.
- Australian Governor-General David Hurley, his spouse and the Australian delegation left Ho Chi Minh City on April 6, wrapping up his State visit to Vietnam from April 3-6.
This is the first foreign leader paying a State visit to Vietnam in 2023, and also the first national guest that President Vo Van Thuong has received in his new position. The visit is part of activities in celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relations. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation at the fourth Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit in Vientiane on April 5 demonstrates Vietnam’s attention and determination to carry forward its role in responding to challenges, while strengthening solidarity with other member countries in order to manage and use the river’s water resources sustainably, an official has said.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet said the PM delivered important, profound messages at the summit, affirming affirmed Vietnam’s strong commitment to the 1995 Mekong Agreement, and calling on countries to fully abide by the document as well as rules relating to the use of the water resources. - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang has signed a Prime Minister’s dispatch ordering relevant ministries, agencies and localities to take measures and mobilise forces and vehicles to conduct fastest and most effective search and rescue activities for the victims of a helicopter crash in Ha Long Bay area of northern Quang Ninh province.
The dispatch clarified that a Bell-505 helicopter, owned by the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company under the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, got an accident at about 5:06pm on April 5 in the sea area of Gia Luan commune, Cat Hai district of Hai Phong city while carrying four Vietnamese tourists on a sightseeing tour of Ha Long Bay. - The body of another victim in the helicopter crash was found in the morning of April 6, one day after the incident happened in the sea area between Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province.
The Bell-505 helicopter, owned by the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company under the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, got an accident at about 5:06pm on April 5 in the sea area of Gia Luan commune in Cat Hai district of Hai Phong city while carrying four Vietnamese tourists on a sightseeing tour of Ha Long Bay. - Representatives from agencies, associations and businesses of Vietnam and Singapore looked into the market situation, and cooperation potential and opportunities between the two countries, especially in logistics, at a seminar in Singapore on April 5.
The seminar on logistics, trade and connectivity was held under the co-sponsorship of the Agency of Foreign Trade at the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the trade office at the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), and the Singapore Logistics Association. - The corporate bond market is showing signs of recovery with a notable increase in both the number of issuers and the value of issued bonds in March.
According to the Vietnam Bond Market Association (VBMA) that collected data from the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) and the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC), there were 11 issue placements of corporate bonds worth over 26.42 trillion VND (over 1.1 billion USD) in March 2023. Read full story
- The Hanoi Department of Public Security announced on April 6 that the Investigation Police Agency of Tay Ho district have decided to detain and launch criminal proceedings against a local man for violating regulations on road traffic participation in accordance with Article 260 of the 2015 Criminal Code.
At about 1:30pm on April 5, Hoang Ngoc Vinh, 63, drove a Kia Forte car with plate number 29A-083.12 from his house on Nguyen Son street, Bo De ward, Long Bien district, to the Hanoi Heart Hospital on Vo Chi Cong street for a medical examination. Read full story
