Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’sevents as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh outlined certain tasks for the public securityforce while attending the 79th National Public Security Conference opened Hanoion December 27.

The two-day event is held by the Central Public Security Party Committee andthe Ministry of Public Security. Read full story

- A conference seeking ways to promote resources of overseas Vietnamese (OVs)and connect localities and businesses was held in the northern port city of HaiPhong on December 27.

The event attracted the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang,Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Le Tien Chau, representatives fromthe Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Laos, National Assemblyagencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and 29 provinces andcities. - The Ministry of Home Affairs’ decision to recognise the “Hoi thanh Phuc amToan ven Vietnam” (Vietnam Full Gospel Church) as a religious organisation wasannounced at a ceremony  in Ho Chi MinhCity on December 27.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for ReligiousAffairs Nguyen Tien Trong said that the decision is an important mark,recognising the Vietnam Full Gospel Church’s operation in line with the lawover the years, and opening a new period for the Church with more rights,obligations and opportunities. - Recent archaeological findings at Ban Phu Citadel, Na Lu Citadel, and BanThanh hamlet in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang were released onDecember 26.

To shed new light on historical issues in Cao Bang, the Institute ofArchaeology under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences recently coordinatedwith the Cao Bang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to conduct excavationsof Ban Phu Citadel (Hung Dao commune, Cao Bang city), Na Lu Citadel (Hoang Tungcommune, Hoa An district), and Ban Thanh hamlet (Hung Dao commune, Hoa Andistrict). - The forest protection department at Con Dao National Park on December 27rescued and released back to the sea a rare green turtle (Chelonia mydas),which was stranded on a beach in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The animal was found by two foreign tourists while they were wandering at LoVoi Cape beach in Con Dao district on the same day. The tourists immediatelyinformed the Con Dao National Park Forest Protection Department about thefinding. Read full story./.

Vietnam, Ireland seek ways to step up bilateral cooperation

Hang proposed the two sides further strengthen political trust, increase high-level and all-level exchanges, and organise youth, student and cultural activities to mark the upcoming anniversary. The Deputy Minister also called on Ireland to soon ratify the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), which would create fresh momentum for economic cooperation.
