Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief reviewof the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 16 received visitingCuban Minister of Justice Oscar Manuel Silvera Martinez, during which heaffirmed that Vietnam is willing to share experiences of its ‘Doi moi’(Renewal) process, including the building and improvement of the legal system,and judicial reform, with the Cuban side.

Vietnam will do its best to support Cuba in itscapacity, and willingly share experiences it has gained, both on issues thathave been done well or not, Chinh stressed. Read full story

- President Vo Van Thuong advised the central province ofNinh Thuan to develop luxury tourism, digital transformation and hightechnology, while working with the provincial Party Committee on June 16 aspart of his working visit to the locality.

Thuong requested the coastal province to seekmeasures to bring into full play its potential and strengths, and focus ondeveloping industries and fields with high competitive advantages. Read full story

- A Côte d’Ivoire delegation led by National Assembly VicePresident Diawara Mamadou visited the northern coastal province of Quang Ninhand paid a courtesy call to local authorities on June 16.

- Vietnamese Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long and his Cubancounterpart Oscar Manuel Silvera Martinez shared experience in law building,perfection, and enforcement during their talks in Hanoi on June 16.

- The Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of Ho Chi MinhCity (ITPC) and the Vietnamese Trade Office in China on June 16 co-organised aseminar on improving the quality of food products shipped to the China, thebiggest export market of Vietnam.

ITPC Director Tran Phu Lu said Vietnam’s mainexports to the market are processing, manufacturing, agro-fishery goods, addingthat the nations have secured a host of bilateral and multilateral cooperationpacts, including the ASEAN–China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) and the RegionalComprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Read full story

- The State Bank of Vietnam (VBS) has decided to reduceregulatory interest rates from June 19, the fourth cut in a row since mid-Marchin efforts to aid economic recovery.

On June 16, the central bank issued Decision No1123/QD-NHNN adjusting the refunding interest rate, rediscount interestrate, overnight lending rate in interbank electronic payments, and interestrate for loans to offset capital shortages in clearance between the SBV andcredit institutions. Read full story

- Although the real estate sector has suffered a fall inforeign direct investment (FDI) attraction, experts are still optimistic aboutits prospects of the sector, especially the industrial segment which isdescribed as a bright spot.

According to the Foreign Investment Agency underthe Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Vietnam drew nearly 10.86billion USD of foreign direct investment (FDI) as of May 20.  Read full story

- Fireworks teams from Australia and Italy arecarefully preparing for their shows themed “Conquer Dreams”on June 17 at theongoing Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2023 in the centralcity of Da Nang.

Welcoming the Thai King and Queen and the Royal delegation to Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stressed that the visit was an important event long anticipated and prepared by both sides, contributing to consolidating and deepening Vietnam-Thailand friendship and cooperation, particularly after the two countries upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025.
