Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 16 received visiting Cuban Minister of Justice Oscar Manuel Silvera Martinez, during which he affirmed that Vietnam is willing to share experiences of its ‘Doi moi’ (Renewal) process, including the building and improvement of the legal system, and judicial reform, with the Cuban side.

Vietnam will do its best to support Cuba in its capacity, and willingly share experiences it has gained, both on issues that have been done well or not, Chinh stressed. Read full story

- President Vo Van Thuong advised the central province of Ninh Thuan to develop luxury tourism, digital transformation and high technology, while working with the provincial Party Committee on June 16 as part of his working visit to the locality.

Thuong requested the coastal province to seek measures to bring into full play its potential and strengths, and focus on developing industries and fields with high competitive advantages. Read full story

- A Côte d’Ivoire delegation led by National Assembly Vice President Diawara Mamadou visited the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh and paid a courtesy call to local authorities on June 16.

Acting Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Cao Tuong Huy briefed his guests on Quang Ninh’s socio-economic development and business climate. Read full story

- Vietnamese Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long and his Cuban counterpart Oscar Manuel Silvera Martinez shared experience in law building, perfection, and enforcement during their talks in Hanoi on June 16.

The host official said that to the Vietnamese people, solidarity and friendship with Cuba is an order from their heart and mind. Vietnam always treasures the Cuban Party, State, and people’s extremely valuable solidarity and support for its national liberation and revolutionary path. Read full story

- Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy Le Minh Tri proposed that Vietnam and Russia should strengthen the exchange of experience in criminal combatting amid the complicated cybercrime situation during a working session with his Russian counterpart Igor Krasnov in Moscow on June 14.

Tri affirmed that Vietnam always pays great attention to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, defining the country as one of the leading partners in its external policy. Read full story

- The Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of Ho Chi Minh City (ITPC) and the Vietnamese Trade Office in China on June 16 co-organised a seminar on improving the quality of food products shipped to the China, the biggest export market of Vietnam.

ITPC Director Tran Phu Lu said Vietnam’s main exports to the market are processing, manufacturing, agro-fishery goods, adding that the nations have secured a host of bilateral and multilateral cooperation pacts, including the ASEAN–China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Read full story

- The State Bank of Vietnam (VBS) has decided to reduce regulatory interest rates from June 19, the fourth cut in a row since mid-March in efforts to aid economic recovery.

On June 16, the central bank issued Decision No 1123/QD-NHNN adjusting the refunding interest rate, rediscount interest rate, overnight lending rate in interbank electronic payments, and interest rate for loans to offset capital shortages in clearance between the SBV and credit institutions. Read full story

- Although the real estate sector has suffered a fall in foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction, experts are still optimistic about its prospects of the sector, especially the industrial segment which is described as a bright spot.

According to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Vietnam drew nearly 10.86 billion USD of foreign direct investment (FDI) as of May 20.  Read full story

- Fireworks teams from Australia and Italy are carefully preparing for their shows themed “Conquer Dreams”on June 17 at the ongoing Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2023 in the central city of Da Nang.

They both are strong teams, with Australia the champion of the 2015 event, and Italy winning the title in 2017 and 2018. Read full story

- A ceremony was held in the south-central province of Ninh Thuan on June 15 to receive the UNESCO certificate inscribing the art of pottery making of Cham people on the list of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding and kick off the Ninh Thuan Grape - Wine Festival 2023.

The event in Phan Rang - Thap Cham city took place in the presence of President Vo Van Thuong and central and local officials. Read full story

- An exhibition named “The Vietnam land shown on the Nine Dynasty Urns” was held at the Hue Imperial Citadel (Dai Noi) in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on June 16.

At the event, 32 photos with captions of the sea, rivers and mountains across all regions of Vietnam which were carved on the Nine Dynasty Urns (Cuu Dinh in Vietnamese language) were on display./. Read full story
