- The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) held a ceremony on March 24 in the presence of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to mark 60 years since then President Ho Chi Minh had a meeting with intellectuals (May 18, 1963) and its 40th founding anniversary (March 26, 1983 - 2023).
VUSTA Chairman Phan Xuan Dung said that at the first congress of the Vietnam Association for Science and Technology Dissemination, the predecessor of VUSTA, on May 18, 1963, then President Ho Chi Minh talked to and assigned tasks to the country’s intellectuals. Twenty years later, on March 26, 1983, VUSTA was established with Labour Hero, Professor and Academian Maj. Gen. Tran Dai Nghia, a prominent scientist of Vietnam, being the first chairman. - Vietnam pledges to further enhance cooperation with international organisations and partners, especially countries within the Mekong River Commission (MRC) and Mekong-Lancang cooperation mechanism, to achieve sustainable cross-border water development goals, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has said.
Delivering a keynote speech on March 23 at the United Nations conference on mid-term comprehensive review on the Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” for the 2018-2022 period, Ha said 60% of Vietnam's water resources come from trans-boundary rivers. Read full story
- Russia’s Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) clearly understands the relationship with Asian partners, sees opportunities for new mutually beneficial ties, and actively promotes relations with many ASEAN member states, including Vietnam, its head Aisen Nikolaev told foreign reporters during a press conference on March 23.
The reporters arrived in the capital city of Yakutsk to attend the International Conference on Climate Change and Melting of the Permafrost held from March 22-24 during Russia's alternate chairmanship of the Arctic Council for the 2021-2023 tenure.Read full story
- Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long and the UK Home Office’s Secretary of State for Immigration Robert Jenrick have discussed the possibility of expanding legal immigration opportunities for workers in a number of industries that Vietnam has strengths and the UK is in great demand.
During their working session in London on March 23, the two sides spoke highly of the bilateral cooperation in immigration and crime prevention, agreeing that this is one of the important pillars in the strategic partnership between the two countries.Read full story

- The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is taking measures to promote the negotiations of a free trade agreement (FTA) with the Southern Common Market (Mercosur - including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay), which is expected to be a driving force for Vietnam to tap the Latin American market.
In 2022, the South American regional economic bloc posted over 12 billion USD in two-way trade with Vietnam, 9.2% higher than that of the previous year. The Southeast Asian country shipped goods worth 3.3 billion USD to Mercosur and spent 8.7 billion USD on purchasing products from the region, annual rises of 3.4% and 11.6%, respectively. - Vietnam earned 8.2 billion USD from exports to China in the first two months of 2023, posting a year-on-year increase of 4.2%, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has reported.
China is the main importer of many Vietnamese products. Therefore, China's market re-opening from January 8 brings great expectations to Vietnamese businesses, especially those exporting vegetables, fruits, seafood, fiber, cement, rubber, steel, textiles, and rice. Read full story

- A hot-air balloon festival was held on Doi Duong beach, the south-central province of Binh Thuan, on March 24 morning to celebrate the National Tourism Year 2023 themed “Binh Thuan – Green Convergence”.

- The 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games torch was carried along several streets around Hoan Kiem Lake in the downtown of Hanoi, the first stop outside the host Cambodia in its tour of the10 ASEAN countries, on March 24 morning.
