- State President Luong Cuong and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam on November 12 afternoon (local time) visited and worked with Viettel Peru S.A.C (Bitel) – a joint venture of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel), as part of their official visit to in the Latin American country.
Reporting to the President on the situation of operations, General Director Pham Anh Duc said that Viettel Peru with the Bitel brand was established in 2011 and officially began business in 2014 with 100% of capital sourced from Viettel. Over the past 10 years, Bitel has had a journey full of difficulties and challenges when facing barriers, from nature to culture and language to fierce competition in the market. Read full story
- Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man received outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen in Hanoi on November 13, lauding the diplomat’s considerable contributions to political, socio-economic, and cultural ties between the two countries.
Congratulating the ambassador on fulfilling his term, Man stressed that Vietnam always keeps in mind the wholehearted spiritual and material assistance from Cuba for its struggle for national liberation in the past as well as the cause of national construction and safeguarding at present. - Sweden is willing to further strengthen its collaboration with Vietnam, affirmed Speaker of the Riksdag (parliament) Andreas Norlén when receiving State Vice President of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan in Stockholm on November 12.
Norlén expressed his belief that Xuan’s official visit will contribute to deepening the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Read full story
- Vietnam's digital economy is maintaining double-digit growth, driven mainly by e-commerce and online travel, according to a report released recently by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company.
The 9th edition of the e-Conomy SEA report "Profits on the Rise, Harnessing SEA’s Advantage" said that Vietnam’s gross merchandise value (GMV) is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16%, reaching 36 billion USD in 2024, with e-commerce and online travel as the primary growth drivers. - National Assembly deputies on November 13 listened to a report and a verification report on the investment policy of the North-South high-speed railway project worth around 1.7 quadrillion VND (67.34 billion USD), within the framework of the legislature’s ongoing 8th session in Hanoi.
On behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang presented the proposal, saying that the goal of the investment is to build a high-speed railway to meet transport demand, contribute to sustainably restructuring the transport market share along the North-South corridor, and lay the foundation for socio-economic development while ensuring national defence and security. - Textile and garment exports are likely to hit 44 billion USD this year, said chairman of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) Vu Duc Giang.
According to statistics of VITAS, total textile and garment export turnover in October reached 3.86 billion USD, up 10.7% over the previous month and 24.26% compared to the same period last year. Read full story
- The Ministry of Industry and Trade on November 12 announced the termination of anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled stainless steel products imported from China’s Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China.
