- State President Luong Cuong received in Santiago on November 10 (local time) a delegation from the Chile-Vietnam Cultural Institute led by President Patricia Abarzua as part of his official visit to Chile.
The President highly appreciated the long-term contributions of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Cultural Institute as well as its President to the two countries' relations, especially the good affection of Abarzua and the institute’s members for land and people of Vietnam, as well as the institute's tireless efforts in enhancing Chilean people's understanding of Vietnam. - State President Luong Cuong on November 10 evening (local time) visited the home of late Chilean President Salvador Allende, a great friend of President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people as part of his official visit to Chile.
The Vietnamese state leader extended his regards and best wishes for health to the family's members, including Senator Isabel Allende, a daughter of the late President, who has special affection for the land and people of Vietnam. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has expressed his pleasure at the strong development of Vietnam's cooperation with the United Nations (UN), and thanked the UN for its valuable support throughout Vietnam's development journey, especially in the period of being under embargo, international integration, the implementation of international commitments, climate change response, and settlement of disaster consequences.
Receiving UN Resident Coordinator Pauline Tamesis, and heads of UN agencies in Vietnam on November 10 on the occasion of the UN Day (October 24), PM Chinh stressed that Vietnam pursues a foreign policy of independence and self-reliance, and multilateralism and diversification of international relations; and strongly supports multilateralism and the central role of the UN. - Vietnam’s aquatic exports are expected to exceed the annual target of 10 billion USD on the back of strong demand from major markets, according to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien.
Statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development showed October exports reached 1.1 billion USD, bringing the total revenue for the first 10 months of 2024 to 8.33 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 12%. Read full story
- Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Nguyen Thi Hong highlighted significant progress the central bank has made in stabilising domestic gold prices, while responding to legislators’ questions on gold market management at the 15th National Assembly’s eighth session on November 11.
The domestic-international gold price gap has narrowed from 15 – 18 million VND (593 – 711 USD) to just 3-4 million VND per tael, she said, attributing the achievements to auctions and direct sales through State-owned banks and the Sai Gon Jewelry Company Limited (JSC). Read full story
