Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 28 expressed his belief that the northern province of Ninh Binh will grow rapidly and sustainably in the time ahead.

Ninh Binh, home to the UNESCO-recognised Trang An Landscape Complex, would become a heritage urban area, a smart city and a growth pole in the southern part of the Red River Delta, the leader said at a conference announcing the provincial master planning scheme for the 2021-2030 period with a vision until 2050. - Paraguayan daily ABC Color has highlighted a recent Vietnam visit by Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce Javier Gimenez, who came in efforts to promote bilateral cooperation.

This newspaper wrote that Vietnam is a potential market for Paraguay's trade, especially in terms of such agricultural products as soya bean and meat. Read full story

- Health Minister Dao Hong Lan and Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) – Vietnam Office Sugano Yuichi on May 28 signed an agreement on grant worth 300 billion VND (11.78 million USD) for a project on improving medical equipment at National Cancer Hospital in Hanoi.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Lan thanked the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, JICA and Japanese experts for their support to Vietnam's healthcare sector in the past time. She said she hopes the embassy and the agency will support the hospital to implement the project in the coming time. Read full story

- The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2024 (DIFF 2024), which will officially open in the central city of Da Nang on June 8, will start with a Jetski & Flyboards - a sports art show on the water to be performed for the first time in Da Nang, along with the performances by many famous singers in Vietnam, according to the organising board.

Produced by H2O from Australia, Jetski & Flyboards is a combination of dances on the water and the air and extreme sports performances by world's top flyboarders together with fireworks displays. Read full story

- Localities in Vietnam have been taking actions to develop smart tourism ecosystem to attract visitors in the digital era.

In Hanoi, tourist attractions like the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre, the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, the National Museum of History, and the Hoa Lo prison historical relic site have organised many online exhibitions, and put in place e-ticket systems. Read full story

- Human resources for the operation of Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai will be well prepared under a strategic cooperation agreement signed on May 27 by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Sai Gon Ground Services (SAGS), and Lilama 2 International Technology College (Lilama 2).

Under the document, the sides will work together in on-site training in aviation, processing and producing materials and spare parts, and building training and maintenance facilities as well as workplace for staff and experts at the airport in the time ahead. Read full story

- The steel industry in Vietnam is expected to have a positive outlook for 2024, with major companies like Hoa Phat and Hoa Sen projected to experience significant recoveries, while small businesses may face challenges in finding output due to the recovery of steel prices and demand from large contractors.

According to Tien Phong Securities (TPS), the outlook for the steel industry to the end of 2024 is largely positive. - Vietnam Airlines operated its first Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)-powered flight from Singapore to Hanoi on May 27, becoming the first Vietnamese airline to use alternative fuels.

SAF is made from sustainably sourced renewable waste and residues such as used cooking oil and animal fat waste. It is a proven solution reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over the fuel’s life cycle, compared to using fossil jet fuel. Read full story
