Agro-forestry, seafood exports estimated at 25 bln USD

Vietnam is estimated to gross 2.4 billion USD in agro-forestry and seafood exports in November, bringing the total revenue for the first eleven months of this year to 25 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 9.9 percent.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, commodities like coffee, cassava and cassava-based products surged in both value and volume.

According to the Ministry ofAgriculture and Rural Development, commodities like coffee, cassava andcassava-based products surged in both value and volume.

Up to 1.56 million tonnes of coffee worth 3.33 billion USD wereshipped during the period, a year-on-year increase of 42 percent involume and 37.4 percent in value. The Indonesian market experiencedsudden growth; volume increased by 8.4 times, and value by eight times.At the same time the volume and value of imports to Belgium , thebiggest importer of Vietnamese coffee, dropped significantly.

The export of cassava and cassava-based products in the 11 monthsreached 3.8 million tonnes, earning 1.2 billion USD – a 56 percent risein volume and 36.8 percent in value compared with the same period lastyear.

Vietnam ’s cassava exports enjoyed stronggrowth in important markets, such as China with a rise of 52 percentin volume and 30.7 percent in value, and the Republic of Korea ,3.13 times in volume and 2.7 times in value.

In the11-month period, Vietnam shipped 7.4 million tonnes of rice valuedat 3.4 billion USD, up 9.7 percent in volume but down 1.4 percent invalue. Similarly, the country received 2.6 billion USD exporting 931,000tonnes of rubber, up 32 percent in volume but down 9.3 percent invalue.

Growth of other commodities like tea, cashewnuts and pepper remains stable. Pakistan is still the largestimporter of Vietnamese tea, with 19.9 percent of market share.

Vietnam remains the world’s largest exporter of cashew nuts.Exports grow significantly in both volume and value, except forHolland with a drop of 9 percent in volume and 18 percent in value.

Wood and wooden products also see a large increase -18.9 percent in export value for the first 11 months of this year,equating to 4.2 billion USD.

Aquatic products bringin an estimated 5.6 billion USD, up 1.2 percent compared with the sameperiod last year. The export of this commodity is expected to continuerising with growing demand from importers.-VNA

HCM City to use municipal budget for Metro Line No. 2 project

The Metro Line No. 2 project has an estimated investment of nearly 47.9 trillion VND (2 billion USD) and has nearly completed land clearance, at 99.8%. The NA’s Resolution 188 authorises HCM City to develop seven metro lines spanning 355 kilometres over the next decade, with preliminary total investment for the 2025-2035 phase estimated at 40.2 billion USD.
