The information was revealed by Nguyen NhanLung, Head of the provincial Department of Animal Health on March 10. Theprovince has promptly taken measures to hinder the spread of the disease.
The provincial People’s Committee has suspendedsales, transports and slaughtering of fowls at the disease-affected communeswhile promoting updating disease situation to help locals proactively takepreventive measures against the avian flu.
The People’s Committee of Bac Ninh city hasannounced an A/H5N1 avian flu outbreak in Huu Chap hamlet, Hoa Long communesince March 6, 2017. The area with possibility of disease spread includes the communesof Viem Xa, Dau Han and Xuan Ai while the buffer zone consists of Van An, KinhBac and Vu Ninh communes.
The city has directed authorised agencies tocheck up entire fowls in Hoa Long commune and vaccinate ones that have yet tobe vaccinated. The agencies have been asked to disinfect households andcommunes where the disease was found while intensifying monitoring animals’health at livestock farms for timely reaction.
Previously, on March 6, as many as 6,100 sickand dead fowls were spotted at farms of locals in Huy Chap hamlet, Hoa Long commune.The samples were tested to be positive to the A/H5N1 avian flu virus. Thevirus-infected fowls were culled on March 7.-VNA
