Hanoi (VNA) - The number of people in Vietnam taking to the skies during May reached 2.88 million, a year-on-year decline of 70 percent, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has announced.
Of the total, there were 78,000 foreigners, down 97.6 percent year-on-year.
Domestic carriers ferried 1.47 million passengers during the month, a fall of 67.9 percent.
Though down, the figures are nonetheless improvements against April, when the number of passengers overall and foreign ones plunged 98 percent and 99.4 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
The CAAV has directed airports nationwide to comply with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control, and those welcoming flights bringing Vietnamese citizens home have been told to exert every effort to prevent transmission in the community./.
