Hanoi (VNA) – Airports across Vietnam served about 94 million passengers and handled an estimated 1.34 million tonnes of freight last year, up 16 percent and 19 percent, respectively, from 2016, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAA).
The CAA reported over 7.8 million passengers passed through the airports in January, a year-on-year increase of 4.3 percent while Vietnamese airlines carried 3.7 million passengers, up 5.2 percent year on year.
The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation handled more than 34,400 flight arrivals and departures and over 34,600 transit flights.
Vietnam’s national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines owns the largest fleet of 92 aircrafts, including 10 Airbus A350 and 11 Boeing B787, followed by Vietjet Air with 51 aircrafts and Jetstar Pacific with 19 planes.
Vietnam currently registers 28 helicopters by January 15.-VNA
