All Vietnamese students win medals at 59th Int’l Maths Olympiad

All six Vietnamese students competing in the 59th International Mathematics Olympiad in Rumania brought home medals, including one gold, according to the Quality Management Department under the Ministry of Education and Training.
Hanoi (VNA) – All six Vietnamese students competing in the 59th International Mathematics Olympiad in Rumania brought home medals, including one gold, according to the Quality Management Department under the Ministry of Education and Training.

The gold medal was won by Nguyen Quang Bin, a 12th grade student of the Hanoi National University’s High School for Gifted Students.

Pham Minh Duc, an 11th grade student from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, and Trinh Van Hoan, a 12th grader of Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students in the northern port city of Hai Phong, bagged silver medals.

The three bronze medals were secured by Tran Viet Hoang, also from Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students of Hai Phong; Truong Manh Tuan from the Hanoi National University’s High School for Gifted Students; and Do Hoang Viet from Nguyen Quang Dieu High School for Gifted Students in the southern province of Dong Thap.

Last year, the Vietnamese team bagged four gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the 58th International Mathematics Olympiad in Brazil, ranking third in the medal table.

The Ministry of Education and Training will hold a welcome ceremony for the team at Noi Bai International Airport on July 15.-VNA
