Hanoi(VNA) – The success of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week, with the highlightof the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, continues to be the topic drawing internationalmedia’s attention, especially the leading role of Vietnam in the region’s mostimportant economic event.

Russia’s Sputnikrecently ran an article affirming that Vietnam is at the centre of APEC’s neweconomic structure.

The article emphasisedthat the successful organisation of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meetingconsolidates Vietnam’s prestige in the international arena, as well as itsposition in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region at large.

As the host of theevent, Vietnam drew the attention of the entire world. It also offered a chancefor Vietnam to continue cooperation with its two biggest trade partners – theUS and China – as well as with Japan, it noted.

Meanwhile, the Uzbekistanipress analysed that APEC 2017 was the focus of Vietnam’s foreign policy thisyear and also the country’s most important contribution to the region.

The support andactive participation of APEC economies and regional and internationalorganisations in the APEC Year 2017 will be a lever that helps Vietnam developits “soft power”. That Vietnam becomes the first APEC host to be invited to theG20 Summit this year shows the international community believes and highlyvalues the country’s initiatives for cooperation outside the region.

APEC 2017 helps Vietnampopularise its national culture and promote the image of a dynamicallydeveloping country in the Asia-Pacific region, Uzbekistan’s press said,affirming not only APEC but also Vietnam are entering their new developmentphase.

The media of ChineseTaipei also appreciated the role of Vietnam as the APEC host, especially thethorough preparations on agenda building, and reception, security and logisticsworks.

Vietnam’s initiativeto organise the first informal dialogue between leaders of APEC economies andASEAN member states received the Chinese Taipei media’s applause.

The UK’s BBC channelalso ran an article analysing what Vietnam has gained from hosting the APECYear 2017.

It wrote that theAPEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting created a chance for Vietnam to reaffirm itsmultilateral diplomacy policy of boosting its relations with numerous importantpartners at the same time.

The Jerusalem Postnewspaper of Israel quoted US President Donald Trump as saying that his Asiatour, including participation in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Vietnam,was a success.-VNA

Vietnam, Laos boost youth cooperation, education
