Army spends 700,000 working days to help locals

Last year, units in the whole army spent nearly 700,000 working days to help people nationwide build and upgrade roads, houses and public facilities, plant trees, and harvest crops, according to the online People’s Army Newspaper.

Many teams of military doctors were sent to provide free check-ups and medicines for more than 600,000 people, and over 5,000 units of blood donated from these units.

The units also twinned with 7,000 organisations in localities where they are stationed, as well as helped locals implement policies and guidelines of the Party and State.

In addition, they spent 26 billion VND (1.25 million USD) for policy beneficiaries, and mobilised about 670,000 troops and militiamen and 5,000 vehicles to conduct search and rescue missions.-VNA
