Some five thousand people joined a charity walk in Ho Chi Minh City to raise funds for the poor on Nov. 14.
The fourth “Unity for the poor” walk was attended by Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Pham Phuong Thao and Chairman of the city’s Fatherland Front Committee Duong Quan Ha.
Under the programme, which was held on the occasion of the 80 th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 25 scholarships each worth 1.2 -1.5 million VND were awarded to needy children and 14 were given new houses in Can Gio district.
Also on this occasion, many donors, philanthropists and enterprises contributed to the city’s fund “For the poor”.
Participants started from the 30/4 Park and walked through main streets of the city./.
