The first Deputy Secretary-General ofASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs (CCA), Bagas Hapsoro, tookhis oath of office on Dec. 15, announced the ASEAN Secretariat.
Bagas will assist the Secretary-General of the Association of SoutheastAsian Nations (ASEAN) in managing the CCA Department of the ASEANSecretariat and in ensuring that the Secretariat has the systems,procedures and resources required to fulfil its roles and mandates inbuilding the ASEAN Community and in the implementation of the ASEANCharter, said Chinese news agency Xinhua citing the secretary assaying.
The CCA Department performs a range of core corporate supportfunctions, such as human resources and financial management,administration and information technology. It also provides a range ofother supporting analytical services to operational areas, includingmedia and communications, and legal functions.
Bagas was selected by a panel comprising the Secretary-General of ASEANand representatives of all ASEAN member states in September 2009. Hisappointment was approved by the 5th ASEAN Coordinating Council inOctober 2009.
Before his appointment, Bagas was the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiaryof Indonesia to Lebanon . He was also the Director for ASEAN DialoguePartner and Inter-Regional Cooperation at the Department of ForeignAffairs of Indonesia./.
