ASEAN Music Festival underway in Hai Phong city

Hai Phong (VNA) – The ASEAN Music Festival2019 opened at the Hai Phong Opera House in the northern city of Hai Phong onthe night of May 25.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai said this culturalevent looks to ratchet up international cooperation in arts and culture betweenVietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Khac Nam stressed that thehosting of this festival will allow Hai Phong to expand its externalpartnership, while preserving its distinctive cultural values.

More than 60 artists from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand,Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will perform, alongside fourVietnamese troupes with 100 members representing different regions of thecountry.

The event offers a chance for Vietnamese artists tointroduce the country's unique musical values to the world and to meet andlearn from their regional peers.


Performances will include dancing, choir singing,orchestras and singing in both traditional and contemporary styles.

Apart from performances at the Hai Phong Opera House,the troupes will perform at outdoor stages in front of the public.

The festival is organised by the Department ofPerforming Arts, the Hai Phong, Department of Culture and Sports andrelated agencies.

Project on digital transformation in cultural sector approved

By 2030, the project targets the establishment of shared digital platforms across 100% of cultural sectors. All digitised cultural heritage will be standardised under the national data framework and shared in accordance with regulations, while 80% of public digital heritage assets are expected to receive digital identifiers to clarify ownership and management, encouraging organisations and individuals to do the same and support market development.
